hello! my name is nicole chuecas , a nonbinary sophomore in college with a passion for photography! i started doing photography when i was 15, during my sophomore year of high school. although it was initially only to fulfill a graduation requirement, i fell in love with the art.

 

for my portfolio project, i decided to focus on multimedia art, mixing photography with items i'd found around my house and symbols that emphasized the message that i intended to convey: the struggle of growing up in a country different than your parents', the clash of cultures and languages and customs and ideas, the constant switching of identities in order to fit into certain crowds. it was too confusing for my to understand when i was little, but now, it empowers me.

i am currently seeking more and more opportunities to find something i am truly passionate about, and run with it. i believe that photography has been a useful tool for me to escape into a different reality, and show the world that there always exists a different perspective to life. i am truly grateful for everything and everyone that i have encountered in my life, and i hope that my photographs in the future can illustrate that.
